Your genes, your cells, were designed to be "turned on" by the components in green, leafy plants. Here are a few suggestions to include on a daily basis: Choose from romaine, butter lettuce, arugula, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, bok choy, napa cabbage, watercress, artichokes, collard greens, swiss chard, kale and mustard greens. . White foods, or things that are made with sugar or flour, are your taste buds best friend but your heart and body's worst enemies. They unleash a reaction in your liver, blood vessels, and fat cells every time you eat them, that can best be described as scraping the lining of your blood vessels with sandpaper! Sound good? Here's a list to avoid: Rice, potatoes, pastry, cookies, breads, pasta, ice cream, sugar, milk, white flour. Brown foods like grains, cereals, and whole wheat products contain complex nutrients that come at a high price, as almost all are very concentrated in calories.  Brown is also the color of fried foods.  Fried foods contain trans fats, a type of oil that doesn't exist in nature. When you eat trans fats, they stiffen your cells and blood vessels, giving rise to high blood pressure, among othe diseases.

Meat From Green Eating Things Will Make Your Heart Sing

Berries are nature's antioxidant storehouses. Eating berries will improve your memory and undo damage to your arteries: Eat fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, and blackberries daily. Your mother called fish "brain food" - we now know she was right! Fish oil contains Omega 3 fatty acids, which allow your brain cells to talk to each other quicker and better. Studies show that depressed individuals have much less Omega 3 fatty acids in their brain cells! True carnivores get all their essential vitamins, minerals and good eating grazing animals who ate green growing things like grass. Choose pastured chicken, wild caught fish, grass fed beef, bison, venison or ostrich. If you can't find these foods, eat fillet or tenderloin cuts of beef or pork.

On a budget? Eat steak, eye of round, but limit portion size to the size of your fist or a deck of cards. THAT'S NOT MUCH!

Eggs are great if you use the Omega 3 eggs, now sold in supermarkets.

Raw walnuts, macadamias, pecans, almonds, peanuts, pistachios and pumpkin seeds will drop blood pressure, lower cholesterol and help with blood sugar problems.  Eat 1/4 - 1/2 cup daily. Sorry, roasted nuts are not as good for you. Munch nuts instead of dips! As opposed to deep fat frying, lightly sauteing or stir-frying foods in olive, canola or walnut oils are good for your heart and blood vessels. Use only the above oils in your salad dressings. Read bottled salad dressing labels! Avoid all other oils! Add avocados to meals, they contain great fats. Red wine contains a miracle ingredient, Resveratrol, which turns on a "longevity gene" in your cells (no kidding). So, if you drink alcohol, drink 1 glass of red wine a day.  If you don't drink, don't start! It is present to a much lesser degree in other very dark fruit.
